Ted Lott founded Lott3 Architecture in 2001 and was joined by Greg Metz a few years later. By 2004, the duo's firm had a new name: Lott3Metz Architecture.
In 2024, Lott3Metz has joined forces with Ken Crutcher at Crutcher Studio, Inc., to deliver greater creativity, insights and project types in Detroit and Grand Rapids. The new union is known as Lott3Metz Crutcher Architecture (L3MC).
Greg Metz, AIA, LEED AP, NCARB
Principal
In 2004, Greg partnered with Ted Lott forming Lott3Metz Architecture which allowed him to apply his passion and energies on urban architecture. His focus has been to apply innovative design thinking to positively shape the future of West Michigan.
Prior to creating Lott3Metz Architecture, Greg Metz was responsible for the design and management of numerous projects for Fifth Third Bank and Steelcase Inc., including the Steelcase University Learning Center. He has brought that experience to Lott3Metz Architecture and has applied it to designs such as the Oasis at Steelcase Global Headquarters, Meijer Corporate Headquarters, Irwin Seating Corporate Offices, Rhoades McKee and Lake Michigan Credit Union branches. His commitment to the urban environment has allowed him to work on numerous renovation and historic preservation projects such as Reagan Marketing + Design, LaFontsee Galleries, The Pyramid Scheme, 645 Cherry, Harmony Brewing in Eastown & Harmony Hall, the Kendall Building and Treadstone Funding.
He is actively involved at Kendall College of Art & Design as a visiting juror and thesis advisor. As an Adjunct Professor he taught courses in Interior Design and Building Codes and routinely serves as a Guest Juror for the school. Currently, Greg is an advisor for Design West Michigan and was one of the co-founders of West Michigan Design Week. He is also actively involved in the local AIA and previously has served on the State Legislative Committee and as President of the local chapter.
Greg is an award-winning architect in design, preservation, sustainability, and urban environments who continues to be actively involved in the neighborhood and design communities to create a better living environment.
A native of Grand Rapids, Greg earned his Masters in Architecture from the University of Detroit Mercy. He currently resides in the Eastown neighborhood of East Grand Rapids.

Ted Lott, AIA, LEED AP
Principal
Ted Lott founded Lott3 Architecture, LLC in 2001 with a focus on leading innovative design and architecture in downtown Grand Rapids, contributing to the city’s progressive urban emphasis.
His first foray into urban planning was serving on the Heartside Mainstreet Program of Directors where he volunteered for five years. Over the years, Ted’s working relationships with West Michigan’s leading organizations resulted in the firm’s steady growth and evolution to become Lott3Metz Architecture, LLC in 2004. Ted’s high volume of work includes Spectrum Health and Aquinas College.
He is an award-winning architect, urban designer and planner and an active stakeholder in the city neighborhoods, working to build strong relations with the City of Grand Rapids and neighborhood residents.
Ted earned his graduate and undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan. Following college, he returned to his hometown of East Grand Rapids and currently resides in the East Hills Neighborhood.

Ken Crutcher, RA, AIA, NCARB
Principal
Ken Crutcher, a past Associate Professor and adjunct faculty at Lawrence Technological University and Eastern Michigan University, founded Detroit-based Crutcher Studio, Inc. in 1998. The firm facilitated many challenging design projects while the principal, Mr. Crutcher, engaged in multifaceted professional and academic activities, including serving as the Vice President of the National Organization of Minority Architects–Detroit Chapter and as Chairman of the City of Farmington, Michigan Planning Commission.
Mr. Crutcher holds Masters and Undergraduate degrees from the University of Michigan.
