East Hills Council of Neighbors
We teamed with Mark Miller, AIA AICP of Nederveld, Inc., to provide the East Hills Council of Neighbors (EHCN) with a document to help them communicate the values of the neighborhood to the wider community.
The document focuses on four strategies identified by the neighborhood: Neighborhood Parks & Green Spaces; Streets as Public Spaces; Historic Preservation, Adaptive Reuse and New Construction; and Supporting Neighborhood Public Schools. These are the backbone of what is now know as the Public Space Strategy (PSS).
Seen as a tool for neighbors rather than a planning document, the PSS relies on visual imagery and concise, jargon-free language to communicate the East Hills story.
The EHCN PSS won an Honor Award from APAMI in 2015 for excellence in neighborhood planning.
